Obituary for Tommy D Bowen

Tommy D. Bowen, 75 of Van Buren passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 in Fort Smith. He was owner/operator of Tommy’s Service Center in Van Buren serving the community for over 40 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Tommy never met a stranger and always carried a wonderful sense of humor with him. He enjoyed dirt track racing and building antique cars, buying and selling anything with an engine and wheels. Tommy was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Baptist, faithfully serving the Lord in and outside of church. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy and a true reflection of his precious legacy. He was preceded in death by parents, Carl and Lillie (Gilmore) Bowen.

Funeral service will be at 11 AM Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Van Buren with a private burial under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 5-7 PM at Ocker Funeral Home 700 Jefferson Street Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife, Sue (Newton) Bowen of the home; four daughters, Christy Soto and husband, Gregg of Van Buren, Denise Campbell and husband Todd of Davenport, Iowa, Stephanie Cowin and husband, Joey of Kibler and Mandy McCracken and husband, Donnie of North Carolina; one son, Tim Bowen and wife, Gina of Lavaca; two sisters, Carla Ellis and husband, Edward of Fort Smith, Delores Healy and husband, Lynn of Arkadelphia; one brother, Gary Bowen and wife, Ginger of Van Buren; ten grandchildren, Kelsey Mooney and husband, Eli, Ashley and Abbey Soto, Ethan Smithson, Graeson Bowen, Jarred and Lilly Campbell, Cassie Cowin, Zack McCracken and Lacey Hendrix and husband, Lance.

Pallbearers will be Tim Bowen, David Bowen, Kevin Bowen, Larry Campbell, Eli Mooney and Daniel Stogsdill.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Honeycutt, Stacey Martin, Joey Cowin, Gregg Fann, Donnie McCracken, Todd Campbell and Jarred Campbell.
