Obituary for Sister Agatha Knittig

Sister Agatha Knittig, OSB, age 99, a member of St. Scholastica Monastery, died at Chapel Ridge Health and Rehab on Friday March 18, 2022. She was born March 31, 1922 in Morrison Bluff, AR to Albert and Mary (Newman) Knittig. Sister Agatha entered St. Scholastica Monastery making her first profession on June 24, 1943 and her perpetual profession on June 24, 1946. Sister Agatha earned her BS Degree from Incarnate Word in San Antonio becoming a teacher. She taught throughout Arkansas and Missouri from 1943 until 1989 when she retired to the Monastery. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Marie Zalovdek and Rose Enderlin and one brother, Charles Knittig.
Sister Agatha is survived by the sisters of her community; one sister, Lona Weisenfels of Fort Smith; three brothers, Edward Knittig (Annette) of Fort Smith, Eugene Knittig of Southfield, MI and Louis Knittig of Conway, AR; several nieces and nephews.
Vespers service will be Wednesday March 23, 2022 at 7:30 PM with the Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Thursday March 24, 2022 both at St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel with burial in St. Scholastica Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
