Obituary for Rosemary Evans (Lamb)

Rosemary (Lamb McElroy) Evans was born November 2, 1949 and departed this life on December 30, 2022. She joins her parents, Frank and Blanche Lamb, Sisters, Glenda Kay Snow and Nancie Lauderdale, brother Ronnie Lamb, her grandson Michael Murphy, and her husband Jim Evans.

Rosemary grew up in the bra-burning era and if she had one on it was either someone’s funeral or their wedding. She was free-spirited, opinionated, strong-willed, boisterous, and didn’t know a stranger. She loved big and she loved loud!

Rosemary didn’t take kindly to someone telling her she couldn’t do something because she was a girl and her career choices reflected this. She was the first woman at Bekaert to run a crane. She delivered newspapers in the Crawford County area along with her husband Jim and they were also an over-the-road trucking team for several years. Rosemary came off the road to become a caregiver for her parents until they passed and then for her husband Jim until he passed. Later in life, she worked at John Garner Meat Packing and then became a bartender at the Eagles Club.

Rosemary leaves behind her daughter Martha White (Larry), son Donald McElroy (Moe), her sister-in-law Sandy Evans, brother-in-law John Evans, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and people she adopted along the way.

Visitation and final farewell for Rosemary will be Thursday, January 5 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Ocker Funeral Home 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren, AR. At Rosemary’s request, there will be no funeral service. She will be cremated and her ashes spread at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
