Obituary for Melba Jo Burcham (Reed)
Melba Jo Burcham 75, of Alma. was called home to be with Jesus on Thursday March 2, 2023 in her home. She was born March 18,1947 in Altus, Ar. She was a member of God’s Miracle Lighthouse in Dyer, AR She is preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Carrie Reed; brothers, J.C and Richard Reed; and sisters, Doris Sheppard and Charlene Turner.
She is a retired cook and is well known as “Pie Lady” She was the pie maker for Red Rooster and Workman’s Travel Center. She was a homemaker who took care of many and was loved by all who knew her. She loved to cook and she always “cooked enough to feed an army” You would never leave hungry if you were around at Mammy’s house.
The family will visit with friends and family from 5:00 till 7:00 PM Monday, March 6, 2023 at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma with internment to follow at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by her adored husband, Roger Burcham, who is known as Honey Bear of 59 years this March 17, 2023; children, her first-born Trish Wilbourn and husband Craig of Alma, her second born Joe Burcham and wife Amy of Alma, and her son she chose, Jay Burcham of Alma; two sisters, Alta Sheppard of Ozark, Barbara and Stan Rosson of Ozark; brother, Gary and Loretta Reed of Alma; grandchildren, Missy #1 Angel Robertson, and husband Willy of Alma, Jessy Wilbourn, and fiancé Robert Warnock of Van Buren, Kully Burcham of Alma, Lindsey Wise and husband Cody of Mulberry, Hailei Burcham of Alma; great-grandchildren, Raven Jones, Riley Robertson, Ryzen Starr, Ronnie Warnock, Haylee Powell, Brooklynn Warnock, Rebel Wise, Tucker Wise; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and church family.
Pallbearers will be Jay Burcham, Kully Burcham, Raven Jones, Willy Robertson, Jessy Wilbourn, Robert Warnock. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lindsey Wise, Hailei Burcham, Ryzen Starr, Ronnie Warnock, Riley Robertson, Wesley Pierce, Haylee Powell, Brooklynn Warnock, Rebel Wise, and Tucker Wise.
Roger will greatly miss his sweet pea but finds comfort knowing she is with Jesus.
