Obituary for Marticia Pitchford (Brassfield)
Marticia Pitchford, 88, of Hartford, Arkansas, passed from this life into the Lord's
presence at Pink Bud Home for the Golden Years in Greenwood, AR on January 30,
2023.
Marticia was born on March 20, 1934, daughter of John and Della Brassfield. She
married the love of her life, Wendell (Hap) Pitchford, on August 16, 1952. They were
married for 67 years before he passed away on May 8, 2020.
Marticia was a great woman of God who played the piano in church for Praise and
Worship for most of her life. She also coordinated women’s prayer groups in Hartford
and helped to coordinate retreats for Christian women in her church and town. She was
a member of Faith Chapel Church in Hartford. She was also a beautician and had her
own shop called the “Kut & Kurl” in Hartford, AR for over 30 years. Many of her
customers became lifelong friends.
Marticia also loved gardening with her husband, Hap, and canned lots of vegetables
during the gardening season for her family and friends to enjoy. She was a fantastic
cook that could fry the fish that Hap caught like no one else. Above all, she loved God
and family and would pray for them every day. She was mother to 3 children, 6
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, Marticia was preceded in death by two brothers,
Delbert Brassfield and Leon Brassfield; one sister, Patricia Steel; and one grandson,
Nathan Jones. She is survived by her three children, Wendy (Neil) Jones, Annette
(Hal) Bierman and Steven Pitchford. She is also survived by two sisters, Audrey Burns
and Wanda (Don) Moore; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Brassfield and Myra Brassfield; and
former daughter-in-law, Cheryl Pitchford.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023, at Faith
Chapel Church, 306 Hwy 45, Hartford, AR with Rev. Richard Brassfield officiating.
Visitation with the family will be on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Ocker-Putman Funeral
home, 4500 Jenny Lind Rd, Fort Smith, AR.
Memorial donations may be made to Faith Chapel Church in Hartford, AR.
