Obituary for Glenn Allison Thompson

Reverend Glenn Allison Thompson, 81, of Van Buren, Arkansas passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at a local hospital. He was an Army Veteran and retired Assembly of God Reverend who pastored and founded many churches. After seminary school Glenn pastored and founded Harlan Park Assembly of God in Conway, pastored Faith Assembly of God in Fort Smith, and founded and pastored Butterfield Assembly of God in Van Buren, and pastored Calvary Assembly of God in Fort Smith. Throughout his career he participated in foreign ministry in Latin America, particularly Mexico, and Thailand. Glenn was a savvy businessman, farmer, entrepreneur, and a spiritual father to many. He was born March 9, 1941 to the late Reverend Raymond Allison and Dorothy (Ramick) Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Raymond Allison and Dorothy Thompson, and brothers, Jerry and Bill Thompson.

A celebration of life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 13, 2023 at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma. The family will visit with friends and family one hour prior to service, 10:00 AM, at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma. Private burial will follow Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Hedden Chapel Cemetery in Grapevine, Arkansas. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Phelps, Mike McSpadden, Josiah Hamby, Colby Jacobs, Ryan Jacobs, Nick Redding, George Gerdts, A.V. Shoate, Herman Travis, and Reverend Steve Shepherd.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Linda (Allen) Thompson of the home; daughters, Allison Phelps and George of Van Buren, AR, Angie Hamby and husband Jonathan of Van Buren, AR, Christie Jacobs and husband Patrick of Fort Smith, AR; son, Wes Redding and wife Mandi of Fort Smith, AR; grandchildren, Randi Edwards, Carrie Phelps, Tyler Phelps, Rebecca Smith, Addison Hamby, Josiah Hamby, Colby Jacobs, Cassidy Jacobs, Ryan Jacobs, Nick Redding, Lauren Reyna, and Erika Morrison; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Karen Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.
