Obituary for Dr. Gerald Guyer

Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Gerald Lawrence Guyer, 79, of Van Buren, Arkansas passed away Friday, August 12, 2022 in his home surrounded by loved ones He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam era and of the Christian faith. Jerry was a family practice doctor for over fifty years and spent most of those years divided between private practice in Stuttgart, Arkansas and as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his mother and step father, Gussie and Elmer Guyer.
Funeral service is 12:00PM, Friday, August 19, 2022 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith with burial with military honors to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Alex Guyer, Paul Watson, Tyler Wallace and Bobby Clarke. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jake Fannon, Nick Luzietti, Larry Jarrett, Richard Jarrett, Steve Templeton and Homer Mantooth.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Guyer of the home; two daughters, Deborah Fannon of Bryant, AR and Jennifer Watson (Paul) of Sheridan, AR; one son, Michael Guyer (Janet) of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Alex Guyer (Vanessa), Taylor Venable (Tyer Wallace) and Jake Fannon; his nephew Nick Luzietti; sisters-in-law Kathy Luzietti and Rosemary Luzietti, two brothers, James L. Jarrett (Ann) and Richard A. Jarrett; one sister, Jane K. Templeton (Steve) and many loving nieces and nephews.
