Obituary for Denise Marie Godwin-Kenney (Godwin)
Denise Marie Kenney (nee Godwin) of Alma, Arkansas passed away on December 20th, 2022 at the age of 61 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Denise was preceded in death by her father Bill Paul Godwin, mother Shirley Joan Godwin (nee Strelow), and her grandparents.
Denise was born on March 29th, 1961 in Santa Barbara ,California to parents Bill and Shirley Godwin. After moving from California, Denise graduated from Alma High School in Alma, Arkansas. She went on to work for Wal-Mart for nearly 40 years. 33 of those years at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center (6007) in Fort Smith, Arkansas as the manager’s administrative assistant. She made numerous lifelong friends while working there.
Denise loved spending time with her family and friends and living life to the fullest extent. She loved babies and would always want to hold and cuddle them. Denise had a sweet, kind heart and that was reflected in her relationships. She was adventurous and had a smile that would warm your heart and light up a room. She especially loved her animals and treated them as members of the family. Denise loved being outdoors and trying new things. She was one of the strongest and most resilient souls and that was shown throughout the health battles she faced.
Denise is survived by her daughter Crystal Kenney-Bradney and husband Bill of Van Buren, Arkansas, granddaughter Sophie Bradney of Van Buren, Arkansas, brother Ronnie Paul Godwin of Alma, Arkansas and long-time companion Les Webb and family, of Mulberry, Arkansas. Along with an aunt, nephew, niece, cousins, extended family and lifelong friends.
A memorial service in Denise’s honor will be held at Ocker Funeral home in Alma, Arkansas on Tuesday, December 27th at 10AM. Presided by Deacon Brad Brown. Private burial to follow at Carolan Cemetery in Booneville, Arkansas.
